Pair of Boxwood Candlesticks

Description

These two candlesticks are made from boxwood which most people experience as a shrub or hedge, but that produces a lovely fine-grained wood for carving and turning. It also has a nice yellow color when oiled. These pieces are from the same branch of a tall hedge that I had to trim back – I am really glad I saved the bigger stems. The candlesticks are 6″ and almost 8″ tall respectively, and I was making a third one about 10″ to go with these but there were so many voids in that piece that it did not come out. I may try to find another piece to complete the trio (check back!).
